Why Email Groups?

Paid Memberships

Turn your community into a membership business.

With Paid Memberships, Premium and Enterprise groups can charge for access to their group. Define membership tiers, set monthly or annual pricing, choose which features each tier can access, and collect payments directly through your own Stripe account. It's everything you need to run a membership community, fully integrated with your group.

Membership Tiers

Create as many tiers as you like, each with its own name, description, and monthly or annual pricing. Every group also has a free default tier that you control, so your existing members keep whatever access you decide they should have. If you change a tier's price later, existing subscribers keep the price they signed up at; new prices apply only to new signups.

Control Access By Tier

Each tier has its own set of feature permissions. For every tier, choose whether members can read group messages, post, and use chat, files, photos, the wiki, databases, polls, and the calendar. If your group has subgroups, you can also restrict individual subgroups to specific tiers, perfect for members-only spaces.

You Keep The Revenue

Members pay through Stripe Checkout using your group's connected Stripe account, the same account used for sponsorships and donations. The revenue goes directly to you. Groups.io does not charge a platform fee; standard Stripe processing fees apply. Pricing is in US dollars.

Flexible Joining

When Paid Memberships is enabled, people choose a tier as part of joining your group. You decide whether the free default tier is one of the options, or whether new members must pick a paid tier. For restricted groups, you can require approval of applicants before they pay, so no one is charged unless you approve them.

Self-Service For Members

Members manage their own memberships. They can upgrade to a higher tier immediately, schedule a downgrade for the end of their billing period, or cancel at any time and retain access until the end of the period they've paid for. They can also update their payment method and view their invoices.

Owner Tools

Grant complimentary memberships to individual members without involving billing. See each member's tier in your member list, and filter the list by tier. Track per-tier member counts and monthly recurring revenue. Receive email notifications for new memberships, tier changes, cancellations, and failed payments. And every change is recorded in your group's activity log.
